Rubira proves too good in Alabar 3YO Classic

Always B Miki’s terrific start to the 2025 season continued over the weekend, with his classy son Rubira taking out the Group 2 Alabar 3YO Classic at Alexandra Park on Friday night.

The Mark and Nathan Purdon trained 3-year-old speared to the lead from the outside of the gate, and with no one willing to take him on through the middle stages, Rubira had plenty of sprint left in the home straight to hold out long-time rivals Got The Chocolates and Marketplace by a neck at the line.

A Group 1 winner last season, Rubira has now won seven races and $239,942 in stakes earnings.

Bred by Breckon Farms Ltd, Rubira is out of the Bettor’s Delight mare Delightful Kas, a full sister to the six-time Group 1 winner Belle Of Montana.
